Electronic Mailing Lists

There are a variety of Web-based resources available for further information and guidance related to alcohol, other drug, and violence (AODV) prevention.

Electronic mailing lists link subscribers by e-mail and allow for information to be distributed to each participant. Members typically receive e-mails from the list manager and cannot post to the list themselves.

Discussion lists are a type of electronic mailing list which allows for members to post questions or comments to all members of the list.

Each of these lists is focused on a particular topic. Please refer to the list documentation for more information. Following are a number of AODV prevention, treatment, and justice lists which may be of interest:

Higher Education Center News Service (HEC/News)

The Center provides this service as a way to disseminate news and information related to alcohol and other drug abuse and violence (AODV) prevention on campus and in surrounding communities. Subscribers receive up to three news stories daily, helping to keep them up-to-date on the latest issues and concerns around college AODV prevention across the country.
In addition to receiving the latest news stories, every Friday HEC/News subscribers receive the following:

Incidents - A weekly compilation of news reports concerning college student deaths, injuries, and arrests
Campus Press Watch - A weekly compilation of college and university press accounts of alcohol, other drug, and violence issues on their own campuses

Announcements - Weekly announcements to the AODV prevention field, including upcoming conferences and events, new resources and publications, and job opportunities

Subscribers may alternately choose to receive HEC/News Digest, a single, weekly e-mail containing all the information received in the daily format. Visit the HEC/News Web page for more information, to subscribe to HEC/News, or to update your subscription preferences.
