On-Site Technical Assistance
The Higher Education Center provides on-site technical assistance to campus and community teams who are interested in receiving advanced, intensive training in alcohol, other drug, and violence (AODV) prevention. On-site technical assistance provides teams with the opportunity to increase their content knowledge and develop strategic planning and program development skills. During the technical assistance, each team develops a unique action plan for its campus and surrounding community, aimed at reducing high-risk and illegal AODV behavior and related consequences.
On-site technical assistance is customized to meet the needs of the participants. The sessions will be conducted by Center staff and Center Fellows, who are expert consultants currently working in the AODV field.
The goals of on-site technical assistance are as follows:
- Increase participants' understanding of effective prevention strategies.
- Build participants' capacity to assess and analyze AODV problems on campus and in the community.
- Help participants to develop an action plan for effective solutions.
- Increase participants' understanding of the infrastructure needed to create environmental change.
- Provide participants with information, tools, and processes needed to move prevention efforts forward.
- Assist participants to translate theory into practice.
